The KLCC area has changed a lot in recent years. And yet, for all the increase in commercial properties, it's still a very residential neighbourhood, which is remarkable. I moved into a development on Jalan Tun Razak in late 2007. Admittedly the traffic (both the sound and amount of) took a while to get used to, but it's something one accepts, expects and adapts to when one makes the decision to live in the inner city. Besides, our apartment units are amazingly quiet. It's been a joy to live in such a central location. That I have very pleasant fellow residents is an added bonus.
All that changed when the i-CLUB, on top of The Icon on Tun Razak, opened for business in late July 2011. If you know the stretch, The Icon is the fairly stylish Mah Sing Group building with four fins on top, between Menara See Hoy Chan / US Embassy on one side, MiCasa / Maxus Weststar on the other, and opposite Menara Tan & Tan.
Some of my neighbours and I have been subjected to almost nightly noise pollution coming from the i-CLUB. Mild to extreme levels of thumping bass and live band vocals continue regularly past the club's stated closing times and have caused sleepless nights for four months now.
My condo's management have met with the club's general manager, and written to The Icon's developer. Yet nothing much has changed. The club continues to operate with seeming impunity.
There is a whole lot of transcribed SMS exchanges with the i-CLUB's management team I will post. At 45 pages worth, obviously too much to post in one go so I'll break it down to weekly chunks.
I realise this may not be a huge problem or issue, but if I'm having such difficulty in getting this small matter resolved, I can only imagine how hopeless it must seem for a large percentage of KLites who have bigger problems to deal with.
Fasten your seatbelts...
